Supervisor of Elections Raises Funds for Project HUNGER
More than $20,000 raised to feed Brevard’s children
Viera, FL – June 13, 2018 – Nine years ago, Lori Scott, Brevard County Supervisor of Elections, started “VOTE to End Childhood Hunger” bake sale to raise funds to help feed children over the summer who lose access to nutritional meals. Over the years the bake sale has grown to include raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle, and an annual Election Office cookbook.
“Due to the enthusiasm and commitment of my team, this year’s bake sale was a huge success. My office proudly donated a check last week for $3,643.69 to Project HUNGER’s Feed & Read program, bringing our total over the last nine years to more than $20,000,” stated Supervisor Scott.
The funds raised afford Project HUNGER the ability to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as food packs for more than 3,600 children. In addition, each child receives a free book to help maintain their reading skills over the summer.
