Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott Provides 2020 Presidential Preference Primary Election Dates and Deadlines

Viera, FL – February 3, 2020 – The 2020 Presidential Preference Primary Election (PPP) will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Florida is a closed primary state, which means only voters registered in one of the two political parties with contested races for President (Democrat and Republican) are eligible to vote in this election.

Supervisor Scott would like to remind voters the deadline to register to vote, also known as book closing, for the March 17th PPP Election is Tuesday, February 18th at 5:00 p.m. Citizens wishing to register to vote may do so online at www.VoteBrevard.com or in person at any of the four election administrative offices. Voters who need to update their voter registration record can visit www.VoteBrevard.com or call 321-290-VOTE (8683). Florida voter registration applications are available throughout Brevard County at: Armed Forces recruitment offices, offices serving persons with disabilities, public assistance agencies, the Tax Collector’s offices, libraries, and at all four Supervisor of Elections offices.

“With three elections in 2020 it is important for voters to “Be Election Ready”. I strongly encourage voters to visit the VoteBrevard.com website to view their sample ballot, update their address, and verify the location of their polling place on Election Day, as it may have changed,” stated Supervisor Scott. “For live turnout numbers, Election Night results, a list of Early Voting sites or to request a mail ballot, visit www.VoteBrevard.com.”

As of now, five of the 16 candidates running for President have suspended/withdrawn their campaigns. Per Florida law, Presidential candidates who suspend or end their campaign after the deadline to formally withdraw their candidacy in Florida (December 9, 2019) will still appear on the Presidential Preference Primary ballot.

Early Voting for the 2020 Presidential Preference Primary will be conducted from Monday, March 2nd – Saturday, March 14th at 10 locations throughout Brevard. For locations and times, select the “Early Voting” tab at the top of the page on the VoteBrevard.com website.

Mail ballots for military and overseas voters were sent on Friday, January 31st. Mail ballots for domestic voters will be sent out on Thursday, February 13th. The last day a voter may request a mail ballot to be mailed to them is 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7th. Voters wishing to track their ballot, or confirm they have requested a Mail Ballot, can visit www.VoteBrevard.com and select the “My Registration / Mail Ballot Status” at the top of the home page. Voters can also call the Mail Ballot Department directly at 321-633-2127.

Sample ballots for the 2020 PPP Election will be mailed to all registered voters the week of February 24th and are also at www.VoteBrevard.com.
