Brevard’s 364,000 voters will see some distinct changes this election season. This morning, the Brevard County Commission approved the new precinct boundaries submitted by Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott in response to the Redistricting and Reapportionment process as required by law.

“We received new boundaries for the County Commission, School Board, State House, State Senate, U.S. Congress, Port Canaveral as well as the City of Cocoa and had to adjust 364,000 voters accordingly,” said Supervisor Lori Scott. “This is a very intense and detailed process that only happens once every ten years. I am very proud of the work my staff has done to ensure this transition is as seamless as possible for our voters.”

“In addition to adapting our precincts to the district boundary changes we received, I once again tasked my staff with the job of precinct/polling location consolidation. As a result, in the last two years, the number of precincts in Brevard County has been reduced from 227 to 171 and the number of polling locations from 139 to 120 – saving taxpayers approximately $1,000,000.00 over the next 10 years” said Supervisor Scott.

As a result of the redistricting process, Brevard’s voters will receive new “Official Voter Information Cards” from the Supervisor of Elections Office the third week of June. Voters are encouraged to review the information contained on their new cards. Although Florida Law does not allow Voter Information Cards to serve as identification at the polls, the cards contain very important information, such as: the voter’s precinct number, specific polling location, and the political party affiliation they have listed on file with the Supervisor of Elections.
