Brevard County Will Conduct a Recount for Two Races
A machine recount will be conducted for the State Representative District 33 and the City of Cape Canaveral City Council races
Melbourne, FL – Nov. 7, 2026 – Following the certification of the 1st unofficial election results, the Brevard County Canvassing Board has ordered a recount for the City of Cape Canaveral City Council race. In accordance with Florida law, the Secretary of State has ordered the recount for the State Representative District 33 race.
“During yesterday’s Canvassing Board meeting, the Board determined a margin of 0.5% or less existed in two races, requiring a machine recount,” stated Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic.
The machine recount will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10th at the Election Support Center located at 525 N. John Rodes Blvd., Melbourne. All Canvassing Board meetings are open to the public.
If the machine recount results in a margin of .25% or less, a manual recount will be ordered. The manual recount will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11th and continue through November 12th if necessary. A manual recount reviews the blanks, overvotes, and undervotes in the race.
Notice is hereby given that the machine and manual recounts will be conducted in accordance with Florida Statutes 102.141(7) and 102.166 and Florida Administrative Rule 1S-2.031.
